Cashmere goats graze on open plains. Shepherds wait until the warm summer months, when the goats begin to shed their coats, to gently hand comb their fur and collect Cashmilian. It’s a labor-intensive process, but it’s the only way to ensure that no harm comes to the goats.
Ecologically sound harvesting of beeswax is a sensitive process, so we collaborate with individual beekeepers, local cooperatives and fair trade community groups. Great care is taken to ensure that bee activity is not disrupted and no insects are harmed.
Our French Buckwheat and Sicilian Caper Berry extracts are obtained by a method called Supercritical CO2 (carbon dioxide) Extraction, the same environmentally safe method used for the decaffeination of coffee and tea. When a certain amount of pressure is applied to CO2 — the gas we all exhale and plants thrive on — this gas turns into liquid. The liquid CO2 can be used as an inert, safe, liquid solvent. This is one of the purest forms of extraction because the plant material is not damaged by heat and the extract is itself free of any solvent residue.
