Let's Start a Revolution!

If you're in California you might have heard about a fantastic organization called Revolution Foods who have partnered with Whole Foods to provide fresh, nutritious meals and snacks, as well as nutrition education, for students, faculty and parents. Since it's beginnings Revolution Foods has served over 100 programs throughout the Bay Area and Los Angeles. They also offer a website loaded with healthy food tips, recipes, and educational resources, as well as a line of lunchbox snacks. Does your state have an organizations doing something similar? Let us know!

Paris Going Green- Circa 2030

It is reassuring to know that there are global efforts worldwide in effect to help save our planet. French president Nicholas Sarkozy called on ten of the region's top planning firms to design the city of Paris circa 2030 green inspired. He would like to claim the city of Paris to be the most green and environmentally sustainable in the world. If you are interested in seeing what "Le Grand Paris" (that is the name of their project) looks like take a look at Green Paris of 2030.

Maybe it is our turn to turn out the lights and transform Times Square into "Le Green Square"

JetBlue going JetGreen?

Hi all,

Now I like JetBlue as much as the next person. Low fairs, cute uniforms, convenient locations, what's not to like?! But with all their recent efforts in the greenosphere they have officially won my heart. Which to be fair isn't that hard but still.

Take a moment to check out all the ways that they are Jetting to Green. You can also  make a pledge to to JetBlue's One Thing That’s Green Campaign for a chance to win a Toyota Prius or an HGTV Green Room Makeover. But you might want to wait until tomorrow. Seems like they are overun with environmentally friendly fliers who are amped up on  Earth Day!
I've been clicking in vain for 20 minutes now so I'm making a note to do it first thing tomorrow morning.

8 Earth Day Tricks to Go Green

The month of April is famous for the official start of Spring and Earth Day, so I thought I this copy article was appropriate.

1. Buy in Bulk
- Visit your local Sam's club or Costco
2. Reduce Food-Related Paper Use
- Buy your children lunch boxes instead of brown paper bags.
3. Use Rechargeable Batteries
- For all your remotes and gadgets in the house.
4. Install a Programmable Thermostat
- Keeps the house a constant temperature too!
5. Print Only When Necessary
- Add a tagline on your emails to "Please Print Responsibly"
6. Upgrade to Energy-Efficient Lighting
- Not only are you helping the environment, you will save a couple bucks too!
7. Utilize Public Transportation
- Save on gas!
8. Attend a Household Hazardous Waste Event
- We are all guilty of the half empty paint cans in our basement and garages...

You can have fun, save money and save the environment all in the same act~

Carbs Give Back!

Hi all,

So I'm a big fan of doing good. I'm an even bigger fan of doing good without leaving the comfort of my desk chair.

So color me extra happy, because for every design I submit to the
Bread Art Project, a dollar goes toward Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Now that's a program that supports both my laziness and the bigger picture. Win win!

Not So Fast. Did You Put Makeup On Today?

I know I am guilty of this...some days it is just too much effort to sit in front of the mirror and doll yourself up before you head out. But it might be worth it for the long haul to take a couple minutes and protect your face before you jet out the door. Dallas Beauty Examiner, Tracy Rock recommends putting on makeup before heading out for the following reasons:

1) Sun Damage- most moisturizers/foundations have a spf in them.
2) Blemish Control- a good moisturizer that contains Vitamin E and A can protect your skin from harmful pollutants.
3) Feel Good Factor-most woman feel prettier when they have makeup on.
4) Enhance Natural Beauty-when applied correctly, makeup brings out your natural beauty.
5) Murphy's Law-anything that can go wrong, will go wrong...running into your ex or that cute guy you are interested in.

Read here to read 5 Reasons You Should Never Leave the House Without Makeup.I know I will think twice about leaving the house makeup free from now on...
